Gosia Nogowska is our Star Carer July June. She works for Klass Care in Dorset.
Gosia’s Manager, Samantha Cameron, nominated her for the award and says:
“Gosia responds very well in emergency situations, once having to take matters into her own hands when 111 where unwilling to help. Gosia informed 111 that she would now be calling 999. The paramedics attended quite quickly once Gosia explained the urgency and the client was taken into hospital. On another occasion with the same client, when district nurses were unable to obtain a sample of urine Gosia was able to speak to the client and get the sample. She then took the sample to the GP surgery in her own time, only to be told that they were not taking samples in at that time, however Gosia stood her ground and insisted the sample be dipped there and then. They then saw that she had quite a severe UTI, so antibiotics were prescribed with urgency. If it hadn’t of been for Gosia, the client could have again ended up in hospital with quite severe issues.
When another client fell and was admitted to hospital, Gosia went back to ensure the family would not be faced with the horrendous mess that had been left behind.
Gosia now also attends the office and updates care plans to ensure all care is person centred; correcting, amending or deleting tasks where required.
Gosia is a brilliant carer very gentle, humble, and thoughtful. She may seem quiet and unassuming, but when a client needs help, she will go above and beyond to ensure they receive the help they need!

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s July Star Carer Award?
It was a complete and utter surprise – I wasn’t aware that the award existed, let alone that I was nominated for it. I feel very grateful and also humbled as I can think of lots of colleagues of mine more deserving of this award – I can’t wait to celebrate them when it’s their turn.
What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?
Going from seeing a name of a new Client for the first time to then getting to know them for who they really are – an unique individual with a story that is worthy of being told and heard. I also feel very lucky to work for a company who genuinely cares for their carers and sees us as more than that too. That’s so so incredibly important. Thank you, Klass Care.
How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?
It’s very convenient to have all the information about my Clients in my pocket, on my phone, and ready to be accessed whenever I might need it. To be able to read notes from previous visits before attending my calls also helps us prepare for the visits ahead. The app also ensures that we don’t accidentally miss any tasks, which is very important too.
What are the challenges in your job?
Perhaps the biggest one for me is being and staying completely present with the Client I’m with at the given moment and not letting myself be affected by what might have happened at my previous calls or some challenges I expect to happen later on. Rigid time constraints, which are part and parcel of being a community carer, is something I struggle with too and hope will change in healthcare in the future.
How do you switch off after a hard day at work?
I love listening to music and learning to play my guitar. I also enjoy taking photographs, reading and getting lost in a good tv series.
