What does an Engineering Manager do at CareLineLive?

I lead software engineering for the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region, with a focus on adapting our aged care platform to meet the specific needs of the Australian market. This includes ensuring compliance with local regulations, integrating with national and state systems and refining the user experience to be intuitive and purpose-built for care providers. The goal is to deliver technology that not only works, but genuinely supports those on the frontline of aged care.

Describe a typical day in your role

My day usually starts with a team sync or catching up on messages across time zones. From there, I might be working with developers to implement localised features, reviewing code, coordinating with product on upcoming priorities or troubleshooting challenges unique to our APAC customers. No two days are the same, there’s always something new to learn, improve or solve.

What did you do in your previous role?

I’ve worked in various software engineering and leadership roles across start-ups and corporate environments, mostly in the telecom and science research sectors. I’ve been involved in everything from coding to platform and product design, always with a focus on user impact and clean architecture.

Why did you join CareLineLive?

I was drawn to the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful product that supports the care industry, and I appreciated the challenge of tailoring it to the Australian market. The team’s values and mission really resonated with me.

Best part of the job?

Seeing how our localisations genuinely help Australian care providers do their jobs more efficiently and compliantly. It’s satisfying to solve real-world problems that make a difference.

Most challenging part of the job?

Working across time zones can be challenging, especially when quick decisions are needed. But we’ve built a good rhythm with async communication and solid planning.

What you most enjoy about working at CareLineLive?

The culture is very collaborative and open. Everyone is approachable, and there’s a strong sense of purpose behind what we’re doing.

What is something that people in home care have to deal with that you want to help fix?

A lot of care providers still rely on manual workarounds or outdated tools. I want to help streamline their workflows with modern, intuitive software that removes complexity, not adds to it.

Surprising or a fun fact about you

I learned to code when I was 16 to help my dad, a civil engineer, automate his work and perform complex construction calculations.
