We had a chat to our July Star Carer, Anita from Mindful Care and Support about why she loves being a carer.

Our July Star Carer - Anita Ashton from Mindful Care and Support

Anita has only been working in health and social care with older people for a few months and joined the Mindful Care and Support team during Covid-19. Since her start she has excelled at her job, submersed herself in her training and provided exceptional service to the individuals that she cares for, all of whom praise her work and say how great she is.

Thanks for all your hard work Anita and congratulations on being CareLineLive’s July Star Carer!

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s July Star Carer Award?

It was a pleasant surprise as I am relatively new to the care industry and have only been working at Mindful Care and Support for a few months.

What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?

All round, I think it is rewarding being able to support our clients and give them as much independence as possible.

What’s your experience of being a carer during Covid-19?

We are given all the necessary PPE that we need to keep us and our clients as safe as possible. Sometimes we may be the only person that our client can see as some of them are isolating so that is quite tough on them, but it’s great that we can be there to care for them.

How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?

I think its very user friendly; I like the idea that you have all the information you need in one place on the mobile app. And before you visit a client you have all their details to hand which you can read, so you are fully prepared for each client visit. Plus having the rotas easily available is helpful as you can see your list of client visits for the day.

I also think it’s useful the way that information can be updated quickly and in real-time.

How do you switch off after a hard day at work?

To relax I like to go home to my husband and my dog and go for a walk in the forest or sit in the garden if its nice weather! I also tend to listen to music to help me relax.
