Mohammed from Ribble Homecare won our August Star Carer award for always putting a smile on people’s faces, not only on the people he cares for but also his colleagues. He delivers his care to a very high standard and recently resuscitated an elderly service user.
He is a fantastic asset to the Ribble Homecare team and improves the mental wellbeing of his clients on a daily basis.
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Mohammed, and congratulations on being CareLineLive’s August Star Carer!
What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s August Star Carer Award?
To be honest, I was shocked – it was a big surprise!
What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?
Putting a smile on each and every service users’ face, whether it’s popping in for a quick visit, making them smile or providing them with personal care, it makes their day a bit more special. I am a funny type of guy and enjoy using my sense of humour to make people laugh.
How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help you in your job?
The app helps me when I leave notes for the next carer during a handover, and also allowing me to easily send information back to the office. It’s good to quickly be able to check in and check out on the app and the office are constantly updating the roster/information on it so you know who you are going to see and the visit/client details. I have been using it for 2 months and it has helped me quite a lot.
What’s your experience of being a carer during Covid-19?
It was a bit stressful being a carer during the pandemic, watching the news and seeing how many people are dying from the virus. The office supplied us with full PPE and gave us all the training and kit to go into the service users house confidently. The way we came together as a team and supported each other was really positive, as it was stressful. As a whole team we all managed to pull through.
How do you switch off after a hard day at work?
I go home or meet a couple of my friends. I sometimes watch a bit of telly, or I just jump on my PlayStation and have something to eat and unwind.
