Sharon from Ribble Homecare won our June Star Carer award for her enormous efforts throughout the pandemic, not only helping clients but the whole community. She has helped cook and deliver thousands of hot meals to vulnerable people and provided a friendly face during the most challenging times
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Sharon, and congratulations on being CareLineLive’ s June Star Carer!
What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s June Star Carer Award?
Absolutely shocked, quite pleased and surprised, it was lovely!
What aspects of your job do you enjoy?
I just love helping people and making sure they are happy in their own homes. I’ve done this job for 30 years, it’s a nice job and important to know clients are safe and well.
How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help you in your job?
It helps such a lot, when it comes to the dark nights, we know where each carer is. It provides a great safety aspect and it’s good that carers can see what other carers do because of the carer app.
If I go to someone’s home and see there is no coffee, we can just put it on the app to tell the next carer.
What’s your experience of being a carer during Covid-19?
It was lots of hard work because we did a lot for the elderly and vulnerable that could not get out. We have not had a day off and we have delivered over 5,000 meals to the elderly and vulnerable. We worked through it and it was a great opportunity to help so many people.
How do you switch off after a hard day at work?
I find it very hard at the moment, I do like my games on my iPad – I love the game Candy Crush. I also do lots of research for projects that I work on.
