‘Millions of Reasons to Care’

National Carers Week is taking place from 13th to 19th October 2024. The theme is ‘Millions of Reasons to Care.’ This special week celebrates carers throughout Australia whilst acknowledging the obstacles encountered by unpaid carers from various cultural backgrounds and age groups. Many of these individuals are balancing multiple commitments and responsibilities.

National Carers Week is supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. A range of activities and initiatives are available to raise awareness and celebrate the role that carers play 24/7 and to promote their well-being. The theme underscores the significance of recognising the dedication and unwavering commitment of carers, underscoring their crucial role in assisting and supporting people using health and social care services.

Making a difference: from civil servant to support worker

“What gives me more joy is when my clients say ‘Thank you’ to me after my shifts. It means a lot to me and it tells me I am doing something good for them and humanity in general.”
